Sriram Ramanathan: A Machine Learning Enthusiast, Yoga Junkie, and Shutterbug.

Long before I stepped into the analytics world, I used to have my own lab. I call it as ‘Dexters’s lab,’ where I carried out all my crazy and amateurish experiments. I was this crazy curious guy at home. Like I’d open all the electronic equipment, toys and carry out my research to find out how stuff works. Anything I got in my hands, all sorts of materials in the house, I would break it open and experiment. Didn’t know that this curiosity will one day lead me towards my analytics journey. And today I am a data scientist, figuring out ways to tell stories behind numbers. Nothing has changed, I am still very brazen about my experiments, but with data now! As a Data Scientist, I get to witness the beauty of numbers and patterns in the world.

Well, I love trekking and hiking as it gives me a break from the city humdrum. And I completely swear by Yoga and try to stay calm. Though you might not be awed by the pictures I click; I still call myself a nature shutterbug who loves capturing nature in all its majesty. Steve Job is a huge influence in my life, and his talks always keep me motivated. My favorite quote is “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.”
