I loved that in Mathematics, I didn’t have to cram stories and theories like in other subjects, while at school. Instead, I treated it as a stress buster and enjoyed solving puzzles and tricks. It was this a natural step for me to pursue Honors in Mathematics, but it was only much later that I realized that I wasn’t happy learning theorems and living in an imaginary space. The turning point in my life came when I began studying Masters in Operations Research – a course offered by Delhi University, which gave me my first insight into the dynamic world of analytics (through my professors and seniors).
When I got my first job in 2008 I got introduced to analytics firsthand. I have now been working for over a decade, and the journey has been immensely exciting. What makes it worthwhile for me is the fact that I get to solve real business problems by chalking up mind maps to reach conclusive solutions.
I love the fact that working in analytics isn’t a monotonous role and every day is a new learning experience! While the work does not necessarily guarantee you an 8 – 5 schedule, it continually stimulates the wiring of your brain, and I simply love a good challenge!
I have been fascinated with the use of AI in Analytics and with other new age technologies such as Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing! Earlier, we used to spend sleepless nights while building a model, but now with the advancement in technology, it’s a piece of cake and takes place in a jiffy!
Analytics isn’t rocket science, and I feel that in analytics, one needs to keep learning continuously – there have been multiple times that I have taken out-of-the-box approaches to solve problems instead of conventional ones – and still succeeded!
My all-time favorite quote is: Getting Challenged is Inevitable, Getting Defeated is Optional. I want to be known for my problem-solving skills and excel in analytics as a leader who can inspire the team, seniors and stakeholders, together.
I am a travel fanatic at heart! I keep exploring new places and go for hikes regularly. I aim to be a globetrotter and am traveling to at least one international location in a year. So far, I’ve covered Singapore, Dubai, Sri Lanka, UK, New York, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick. I’m planning to explore more of North America in the coming years.
Besides touring, I also enjoy cooking healthy food and reading books. I usually listen to podcasts before sleeping. I’m a simple individual who appreciates honesty and people who are true at heart.
